Human tuner
(2019)
Full video coming soon.
Human Tuner is a living, growing network of physical and digital imprints driven by live, real-time brainwave frequency data of multiple participants via EEG headsets. It is a continuous stream of aural and visual feedback based on the “tuning” of certain brain waves when activated by an activity such as drawing. As the users “tune” into the same brain wave frequencies they become a synced network, and the room reacts through ambient color, light and sound.
Starting with blank walls at the beginning of the night, users were given an EEG headset and a paint marker and instructed to start drawing on the walls, loosely following shapes and patterns on that wall. After five hours the walls were filled with what you see in these pictures. No one could have guessed how beautiful this experiment turned out.
Human Tuner was featured as a part of the Hello Neighbor group show hosted by vurv collective and Chicon Street Poets.
